This 6061 T6 aluminum angle is extruded. A
hydraulic press is used to push a heated billet of aluminum through a certain shaped
die. Extruded aluminim angle is stronger than non-extruded which is formed by
bending a flat bar to form an angle. 6061 is the least expensive but most
versatile of all the heat treatable aluminum alloys. It has a good range of
desirable mechanical properties and very good corrosion resistance. It is easily
fabricated by most of the commonly used techniques. In the annealed condition it has good
workability. 6061 T6 aluminum angle is welded by all methods and can be furnace
brazed. Applications: This grade is used for a variety of products and applications
from auto/truck bodies and frames to machine parts and structural components. 6061 is used
where appearance and good corrosion resistance with along with better strength are
required.
6063 T5 aluminum angle is not extruded, therefore not as strong, but still suitable many
applications.
The 6063 alloy is commonly referred to as an architectural alloy. It was developed as an
extrusion alloy with relatively high tensile properties and a high degree of corrosion
resistance. This alloy also has excellent finishing characteristics. 6063 is most often
used in interior and exterior architectural applications, like doors and windows, also in
store fronts and various trim pieces. This alloy is best suited for anodizing applications
- in plain or in a variety of colors.
